All guides are very professionals, very friendly and with an excellent Spanish, they help you in every single aspect of your trip.
Congratulation to this great team, I will definitely use Memphis Tour again.
Our tour manager, Abdel, was waiting for us basically right at the airplane! He helped us with visa, border control, everything! So professional, I've never seen that before. Took us to our beaufitul Mena House Hotel by the Pyramid, helped us to check in and all.
Our private tour guide Ahmed, knowledge at it's best! Went above his way to take us to the Egyptian Museum, Giza Plateau and all the sites. And our driver, so patient! Our stay in Cairo was wonderful, we felt super safe all the time.
We then travel by plane to Luxor, to board our 5* cruise Sonest Saint George, the best ever. Our tour guide there, Yasser, was also fantastic, he took us to so many wonderful sites along the Nile River, told us incredible stories about Kings, Queens and Goods, some of the Temples we visited at night... amazing experience. We will never forget.
While cruising the Nile, we travel to the sites by car, horse carriage and by small pedestrian ferries! The staff on the Sonesta Saint George were all fantastic, made us fell more than welcome. We made many friends and will never forget.
All the time, between flights, hotels, boats etc, there was always someone waiting for us to take us to where we needed to go, and always on time.
Sorry if we forgot to mention someone by name, you all rock! In a few more hours we will be leaving... so sad
PLEASE COME TO EGYPT, IT'S SAFE.

Througout our stay onboard the St George, we had a lot of sightseeing trips, all organized by Memphis Tours and led by our very enthusiastic guide, Ahmed El Prince. The sights in Egypt are impressive no matter what, but with the help of Ahmed we were able to understand some of the symbology and it made it so much more interesting. Ahmed even gave us lectures on ancient Egyptian Mythology and we were just awestruck by his tales.
All in all, an excellent trip made even better by Ahmed.
Right from the initial ‘live chat’ via their website with Abdo and our initial greeting from a rather sharply dressed Tour Leader, Hamada (who was rather easy on the eye, much to my wife’s content), in Cairo through to the final wave goodbye to our Luxor tour leader, Ruby (who taught us some ‘interesting’ Arabic words to use at the markets!), we were well looked after from beginning to end.
The team were very flexible with our chopping and changing the itinerary several times at the last minute. We were a little apprehensive given the recent political climate but found the limited tourists made the sites much more pleasant to visit with no queues or waiting time.
The tour guides were very knowledgeable and, of course, the advantage of personal guides is the ability to ask a multitude of questions. The only constructive feedback I would leave would be in Cairo where we felt that our Guide was conducting the tour as if we were in a group of 20 and following a set script. Nevertheless, the information was excellent and everything ran like clockwork. We were particularly impressed by our Aswan Guide, Hassan, who spent an hour haggling down a statue of Akhenaten we fell in love with to a very reasonable price. All the guides had degrees in Egyptology and had a clear passion around the subject. Our tour guide, Nabil, spent 30min giving us the background in Valley of the Kings before we even set foot in any of the sites which really enriched our experience.
A special thanks to both Hamada and Ruby for giving us a fantastic holiday we will remember for years to come.
Our overall impression of Egypt could not be better and we will definitely return for a longer tour with none other than Memphis tours! I've written a detailed review below, but have also given ratings here (for the people who don't like reading much :P)
Egypt= 5* Stunning, beautiful and magical land! A must visit!
Egypt people= 5*Wonderful, happy, warm people. Nobody tried to cheat us or seemed like a threat unlike a few reviews stating so.
Safety= 5* Extremely safe!!! Lets just say I live in Australia in a posh expensive suburb and drunk men whistle at me if I walk alone. Egypt was more safe and people were respectful towards women.
Tour class and arrangements= 5* Luxury and absolutely fantastic!
Cleanliness and hygiene= 5* After reading a few review online we expected Egypt to be dirty, chaotic and unorganized. Upon getting there we were surprised to see how clean, organized and safe it is!!
Would I recommend Memphis tour= 5* ABSOLUTELY! Extremely professional and generous!
Detailed review: We decided to go to Europe for our Honeymoon and do a stop-over in Egypt. On my fathers recommendation we extended the one-day Egypt stop over to a week long stop, but were uncertain of the whole thing. After visiting Egypt and Europe we were glad to have spent time in Egypt as Europe faded away in front of Egypt's grandeur!
To plan our trip we decided to get in touch with Memphis tours after reading the countless fantastic review online and custom planned a week long honeymoon trip for us. It was the easiest, most smooth and extremely professional trip I've ever planned. As it was our Honeymoon, Memphis tours wonderful representative Mohamed Mokhtar threw in a few complimentary sightseeing, tours and farewell dinner for us. The whole process was absolutely smooth and efficient.
At the airport we were greeted by the Memphis representative and taken to our Hotel Oberoi Meena House. We were on a hassel-free luxury holiday where we were taken care of every minute and had nothing left to do ourself, except to enjoy and let the beauty of Egyptian architecture, history and people amaze us. Waking up to the Pyramids outside our window was a dream and being taken everywhere according to our convenience when we wanted was fantastic. Memphis tours were extremely flexible with last minute changes to our daily itineraries too. I've traveled all over the world but the beautiful rich culture and history Egypt offers has left me spellbound. The only other place that has such magical effect, grandeur and rich culture is India.
Our stay at Oberoi Meena house, transfers, air tickets, cruise bookings everything was taken care of by Memphis and they made sure we were at the right place doing the right thing at the right time without tying us in any strict schedule. The Al Jamila cruise on the Nile was fantastic even though the water level was low. Our Egyptologist Mohamed was extremely nice, kind and had answers to all our weird questions. We were mesmerized everyday by new historical stories, places and the Egyptian peoples dedication to preserve their brilliant history. On our last day on board the cruise couldn't move to Luxor as the water level was very low, people on the boat with other tours were driven a few hours to Luxor and back to the boat, and the same was repeated the next day. But Memphis tours arranged for our over night stay at the Sheraton Hotel in Luxor and saved us the back and forth inconvenient travel to the cruise. We thought the arrangements were extremely professional and kind. Memphis tour services were perfect, couldn't find a fault anywhere and would like to thank Memphis for arranging such a wonderful Honeymoon trip for us.
Back in Cairo, we had the best guide Amany who was full of knowledge and Egyptian history. Such knowledge and genuine enthusiasm were extremely impressive. Our chauffeur in Egypt Ahmid Mohsin made our every drive during the trip fun filled. We would like to recommend him to everyone and would definitely ask for him for our next trip. He introduced us to lovely Egyptian trance :P and even got us hooked to a particular number we liked listening to on repeat. On our last day at the airport he surprised us with his lil gift to us- the CD of our Favorite Egyptian number! Egyptian people are truly warm and kind. We said our goodbye to Egypt with a heavy heart, onward to Europe which couldn't impress us(except Norway which was stunning and breath taking) after all that we had seen in Egypt, even though we tried hard not to compare. The Land of the Nile has us mesmerized and we shall return :)
Thanks Memphis tours for arranging such a wonderful Egypt tour for us and leaving no stone unturned to make it perfect!
The trip was wonderful from the word go. I was met at the Cairo airport by Mohammad Abdo who was assigned to me as my guest relations person. I was transferred to the hotel and explained in detail about my trip starting the next day. I was given a mobile phone that was charged enough to make 30 mins worth of local calls. This helped me to keep in touch with Mohammed whenever required. The hotels and the boat I was put up in through out the trip were good std...the food was good..the guides were excellent...here I must mention Ahmed during the cruise and another Ahmed in Cairo and Alexandria. Both were extremely knowledgeable and were ready to answer all my queries untiringly. Imad at Luxor was also great company. Through out the trip I was well looked after and felt really safe. Everything was planned to the last detail and I did not have to worry about anything...made my trip relaxed and thoroughly enjoyable!!!! Thank you memphis tours, Maged, Mohamed, Ahmed and Imad!!!!!!
Tripadvisor. We arranged our 10 day/9 night trip via email with our
personal tour consultant, Abdo Younis. This process went very
smoothly, even with our changes and questions, and we were
provided a detailed day by day itinerary.
We were greeted at the airport by our Cairo coordinator, Hamada Amir.
Hamada escorted us to our hotel , got us checked in, gave us a cell
phone for the duration of our trip, and went over the next day’s
itinerary. Hamada or his counterparts, Mustafa in Aswan, and Ahmed in Luxor were always there to greet us and make sure we made it to our next destination.
Memphis had everything covered, we were always met by a trip coordinator, a guide, or both. It was always a Memphis Tours van and driver that took us from place to place when needed. This company really has it’s stuff together.
Also, a word on the guides who actually escort you and explain the history and context of the sites. Our favorite was a young Egyptologist named Mohamed Emam who was our guide for the Aswan to Luxor cruise portion of our trip. Not only is he extremely knowledgeable about these temples and tombs, he has a genuine passion for the subject. He was also a lot of fun.
We had a female tour guide in Alexandria and for the Cairo Museum named Rania Yahia who was also very friendly and knowledgeable.
We rode camels and horses beside the Giza pyramids at dawn, toured the
pyramids inside and out, the sphinx, the step pyramid, Ramses II
statue at Memphis, Abu Simbel, Aswan High Dam, Philae temple, the
Unfinished Obelisk, Valley of the Kings, Temple of Queen Hatshepsut,
Karnak & Luxor temples, Hot Air Balloon Ride in Luxor, Tombs of the Nobles, Alexandria, Qaitbay Citadel, Catacombs, Cairo Museum. We stayed at Le Meridien Pyramids Resort, Movenpick Aswan Hotel, Jaz Minerva Cruise.
If you go to Egypt, make sure you see Abu Simbel. It is worth the 3 1/2 hour ride or you could fly.
Despite the concern of pretty much everyone that we told we were going to Egypt, we never felt the slightest bit insecure the entire time we were there.
The trip exceeded our expectations and I would like to thank Hamada, Mustafa, and Ahmed, along with our drivers (Osama, Saeed, etc) for taking such good care of us.
To all those looking for a similar kind or an exhaustive trip in Egypt I would recommend just go ahead and book yourselves with Memphis Tours.
Wait and watch for my further review once I return from the trip.
Pro’s
Magnificent temples and structures. History! History! You’re walking in the same areas as the great queens and kings. King Tut’s Tomb…. The Egyptians do their best to welcome visitors to their land. The accommodations might not be as extravagant as you are used too but they are doing the best they can.
Con’s
Hassling by the merchants. Horrible at times. Listen to your guide and don’t let it spoil your trip. A kind “no” and keep walking is the best advice. Our guide let us know of the best places to buy where you could stop and look without the pressure.
Again special thanks to Memphis Tours and the boat crew. Thank you Abdo Yunnis for responding to my emails in a timely manner and making me feel like I was your only client. Thank you to the ship’s crew. Food was great and so was the service. Sayed Selim, our new Egyptian brother, You ROCK! Everyone keep up the great work and I hope to visit Egypt again very soon.
We completed our itinerary and booked travel for October in January 2011, days prior to the protests and subsequent changes and progression that is occuring today. Throughout our experience we have been blessed to have Mr. Abdo Younis, who has been our travel consultant and Memphis Tours representative handling our arrangements. With patience, understanding and skill and care he has been able to save our trip plans and maintain our required itinerary and cost basis, after our original flights and dates were changed when our original international airline decided against their planned startup flights to Egypt. The changed flight plans and dates were accomodated and we look forward to our trip and to meeting Mr. Abdo Younis and personally thank him for all his excellent service and followup. His personal attention gives us confidence in our accomodations and itinerary and the pace that he has planned for us.
We make a donation to the Magdi Yacoub Heart Foundation for each booking reserved.
