After that you will be transferred by an air-conditioned vehicle to Cairo, approximately 3 hours, with a stop if needed to have a rest. Start your tour in Cairo enjoying a visit to the Pyramids of Cheops, Chephren and Mykerinus. Then proceed to visit the Great Sphinx, the head of a pharaoh with a lion's body, which dates back to the time of Chephren; the tour also includes a visit to the Valley Temple, which belongs to the Pyramid of Chephren. Move on to visit the Step Pyramids of Zoser, the world's oldest major stone structure. It was built in the 3rd Dynasty (around 2630 BC) for King Djoser. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant in Cairo. Overnight in Cairo.

Day 02: Egyptian Museum / Salah Din Citadel
Breakfast at your hotel, then you will be escorted by your tour guide to Salah el Din Citadel, Albaster mosque of Mohamed Ali which was designed by the architect Yousif Boushnaq, a Turkish man who came especially from Istanbul to build this great mosque for Mohamed Ali, the ruler of Egypt (1805-1849) who ruled Egypt over 45 years.
Lunch will be served at a Local Resturant in Cairo, then move on to visit the Egyptian Museum which features artifacts from the Pharaonic period. The museum displays a rare collection of 5000 years of art which are considered the largest most precious collection of Egyptian artifacts in the world. Over 250,000 genuine artifacts are presented, including an exhibit dedicated to Tutankhamen collection of treasures, gold and jewelry which were enclosed in his tomb for over 3,500 years before its discovery in the 1920s when his tomb was excavated. Continue driving to Islamic Cairo, where you will be to Khan El Khalil Bazaar, Cairo`s old bazaar (if there's enough time). After that travel via air-conditioned modern vehicle back to Alexandria Port. Back to your cruise ship for the final departure.

Overnight Trip To Cairo from Alexandria Port
The Best Way to Experience Egypt
, 7/15/13
We arrived in Alexandria June 10th by cruise ship and instead of the RCCL tour, thinking we might not be this way again, we wanted the efficiency and flexibility of a private guide and car. We booked two days with Memphis Tours that were perfect, and for not much more money. Before we left home, we had worked out an itinerary that we had chosen emphasizing that we wanted no shopping, etc.. Our guide, Amany Salem met us holding her sign at 7am. She was fantastic - so knowledgable and passionate. She gave us a tour of the Egyptian Museum in Cairo before we visited the Pyramids and she took us to lunch at a lovely local outdoor restaurant all the while giving us background on their social/political life. We arranged for a night at Mena House, an excellent hotel that overlooked the Pyramids. The next morning Amany and our helpful driver picked us up at the hotel and took us to the Alexandria Library for a tour and a walk on the waterfront before returning to the ship.
After another day at sea we were met by our other excellent Memphis Tours guide, Noble, for a long, fun day at Luxor that included the Valley of the Kings, a short Nile boat ride, etc. before returning to the ship. We could have booked a Memphis Tour in Petra also but didn't realize how perfect they would be so we went with Jordanian company that wasn't bad, but if we had it to do again we'd stick with Memphis Tours. They were terrific.

“Wonderful Experience”
, 10/31/12
My girlfriend and I arrived to the port of Alexandria on our cruise tour. We stayed there for 2 days. Our tour guide, Emad Seleem and our driver, Al askary were more than accommodating. After all of the discussions about Egypt safety issues and else, our stay there was spectacular with no unpleasant moments at all. The whole stay was filled with great surprises. Emad and Al Askary picked us up in Alexandria ( 3 hours from Cairo) in a private car with air conditioning and water. On the way, Emad started by teaching us about the history of Egypt. After 3 hours we learned more that

any book could have :) Upon arrival we went directly to the pyramids, which were an experience of its own (do not leave without riding a Camel). After that we went to eat to a buffet restaurant chosen by the tour agency. The food was not great but not bad either and was included o the price so no complains there. Then we calling the day and went directly to the hotel.

It was a 5 star hotel. It was amazing with views to the pyramids. I couldn't believe that for the tour price they would have included such an exquisite hotel. Definitely a surprise. Our suite was huge and with beautiful garden views and the staff extremely helpful. It also included a free buffet breakfast that pretty much had it all you could expect with lots of traditional Egyptian food.

The next day we did the museum, some city landmarks and lots of shopping. The whole experience was perfect. The combination of great tour guide, excellent driver with our own private car, the food, the place, the landmarks and the people made it happen.

A special thanks to Emad, who not only is a tour guide but also a Egyptologist and Psychologist. He made it all happen. Made our stay safe and fun with a twist of the unexpected. We totally recommend Memphis tours and highly recommend Emad Saleem.

Professional, knowledgeable, very attentive

Well, our experience with your organization and staff went well without any difficulties. I have appreciated your very prompt responses to all my questions. I also want to inform you that we were entirely pleased with Mahmoud, and also with Hussein. Both were always attentive, pleasant, and professional. The buses and van used were most comfortable, and were safely driven by very competent drivers. Over all, I would not hesitate to recommend Memphis Tours, and will contact you again when we do another trip to the Holy Land.

Fantastic experience
, 5/23/11

Our cruise itinerary was changed to include Egypt just 2 weeks before departure, I found Memphis Tours on line and was able to book within a few days. Yosri of Memphis Tours responded quickly with a complete 2-day itinerary at half the price of the overnight cruise excursion. The guides were professional and informative and even found an internet cafe and helped us bargain for good prices at the bazaar. The driver was exceptional considering the traffic. Our room at Mena House had an outstanding view of the pyramids. All the arrangements were perfect. I would highly recommend visiting Cairo and using Memphis Tours.
recommend Memphis Tours for anyone wanting an independent excursion.

Overnight Trip To Cairo from Alexandria Port
Best Way to see Cairo in 2 days
, 5/7/11
My parents along with my husband and I went on a cruise that stopped for 2 days in Alexandria. Although many people suggested that taking the cruise ship excursions would be the best and safest option, with 4 of us a private tour was actually more affordable with Memphis Tours.

We had a wonderful time from start to finish. When exiting the cruise ship terminal there were tons of people who had booked private tours as well many with Memphis. They all held signs out with names and then took you to the car/van. We were able to see so much more then we would have on our own and our guide and driver were perfect! They were so flexible to what we wanted and even made two special stops for us . One was that my mother mentioned that restaurants she kept asking for Egyptian tea and she kept getting served Lipton, so our guide stopped and bought her a package of real Egyptian tea for her to make at home! We chose the 2 day tour of Cairo but were able to squeeze in stopping by Alexandria library and a short drive around the city. Cairo and Alex are so different and I was thrilled that we got to see Cairo first before we saw the more modern and Westernized Alexandria.

Memphis arranged everything for us. They booked us the hotel Le Meridien Pyramids which was lovely and very clean. The rooms were massive although the walls were a bit thin (my husband and I must have been next to a room with many kids and we heard them until they went to sleep). The hotel gift shop also had great prices on everything- we were disappointed with the Papyrus Institute and the prices were pretty high. The hotel gift shop had a huge selection of the exact same thing and at least half the price.

Also it was great that the little details were taken care of. Yet since it was a private tour it was exactly what we wanted and we could stay places longer or shorter if we wanted. Our guide knew the best places to get pictures and was great with using our SLR camera and offered to take family photos and fun photos (leaning on the pyramid or squishing it with your foot :) It was wonderful to have photos with the whole group. One of the nicest bonuses though was that the guide and driver had change so whenever we stopped for the bathroom they would give us some so we could pay the attendant or buy toilet paper. I do recommend getting pocket sized hand sanitizer though.

Memphis tours made our short time in Egypt unbelievable, I would recommend them to everyone!

“Two day tour with Mamphis Tours”
, 1/2/11
We have just returned from a two day trip to see the pyramids and sites of Egypt. There were 12 of us and chose Memphis Tours to assist us. We had arrived in Alexandria for a two day stop while on a Mediterranean cruise (Norwegian Jade).

We had concerns of not doing the two day trip off the ship. They warned us that our safety could be in jeopardy and that it would be possible to miss the ship if not going through the ship's excursions. We decided to take our chances with Memphis Tours since Marwa Samir had given us a wonderful itinerary. She was very responsive to our emails and answered every questions without delay. Our tour price included the van, a driver, a guide and a government provided security guard. We had a hotel night, three meals and entry to all the sites we wanted to see. The price was half the price of the cruise ship and we even stayed in the same hotel as the ship's excursion group and then we had two of the meals in the same restaurants they did!

With Memphis tours we were able to customize our tour to what we wanted to see and do. Our tour guide, Maha Mahmoud was fantastic! We switched the itinerary a few times and Maha was very gratuitous and immediately put our requests into action. She told us how to "shop" the vendors at the sites we went to and she even stepped in and helped us with discussions around the prices of a few things. She coached us on several occasions as she is aware of what things should cost and was not going to have us pay any more than that!

We were starting to run out of time on the second day and Maha really exerted herself to get the restaurant staff to serve our lunch in record time. Even with our lack of time she found a way that we could stop at Starbucks on the way to the ship. We had been talking about wanting Starbucks for two days. (We come from the Northwest and Starbucks is an icon here.) To see one in Egypt was surreal to us!

All 12 of us would recommend Memphis Tours without any hesitation. We would also, with great pleasure, recommend Maha as the tour guide. You would have a great time and would not worry about a single thing with her!

“Wonderful 2 days in Cairo”
, 12/30/10
Alexandria, Egypt was a port stop on a recent cruise, so knowing that we'd have two days in port I went looking for a private tour guide for Cairo. I contacted Ahmed Fayez at Memphis tours by email, and he responded immediately, helping to iron out our plans and making the process very simple. It's nothing like booking an excursion through the cruise line, where you don't have much if any say into your itinerary. With Memphis Tours, I essentially told Ahmed what I did and didn't want to see, and along with his suggestions he adjusted everything accordingly. We decided on a two-day tour of Cairo, with an overnight stay in a local hotel sandwiched in between. At one point I preferred to stay in a different hotel than was originally included in our package, so Ahmed changed the reservation without question and at no charge.

I found that the price Memphis charged was significantly cheaper than a similar tour provided directly by the cruiseline. The only difference was, instead of being on a bus with 20 other random cruisers, we had a air-conditioned minibus, personal driver and personal tour guide, all to ourselves.

“Best Tour EVER!”
, 12/18/10
My group of 4 took an Eastern Mediterranean Cruise with NCL two weeks ago. On our itinerary there was an overnight in Egypt. We read the cruise tour options and fell in love with the Over Night in Cairo Tour however thought it was a bit too costly at $499 per person. I began searching online-trip advisor included, for alternate tours in Egypt and came across Memphis Tours. They offered the EXACT same itinerary at a much cheaper price, not to mention the convenience of having your personal English speaking private tour guide and flexibility with schedule. We visited the Great Pyramids where we had a camel ride, the Step Pyramid, 2 museums, Mohammad Ali Mosque, Papyrus Institute, Egyptian Cotton Factory (not included in the cruise option), had a great dinner cruise on the Nile, saw the sound & light show at the Pyramids, Sphinx, and soooo much more. The restaurant selections were awesome and we did not get sick once (though I cannot say the same for the people who took the ship’s excursion)! We were provided with plenty of bottled water and time to take photos and shop. Our overnight at the 5 Star Hotel accommodation provided by Memphis Tours was great, our minivan was clean and comfortable, and everyone from Memphis was extremely knowledgeable- we have no complaints. Our guide Neama knew everything there was to know about the history of Egypt and haggled for the best prices everywhere for us everywhere we went. Our driver Fiassal handled the wild Egypt roads with ease! He is hands down the best driver I have ever seen! We loved them both and they spoke very good English. Zizu, our coordinator, spoke English with perfection and always had a warm smile. We felt VERY safe in the hands of Memphis Tours and have been praising them since our return to our home, Bermuda. I’m sure there are plenty other details that I am forgetting to write, but one thing I cannot emphasize enough is PLEASE do NOT hesitate to use Memphis Tours if you are traveling to Egypt. They are very professional and kept all their promises. They went over and beyond the call of duty to make us comfortable and to give us an unforgettable experience. For that I would like to say THANK YOU MEMPHIS TOURS!

Amazing, high quality experience

Maha was our guide. She was very knowledgeable, fun, and personable. WE learned so much about the Egyptian history, sights, art and archeology as well as current culture. Mohammed M. was the trip coordinator we corresponded with before the trip. Hussain picked us up and we had 2 different drivers (one for each day). All were extremely friendly, reliable, and aimed to please. They also had good camraderie between them. This was was worth the $ for our customized adventure which included the pyramids of Giza, Saqqara, a felucca ride, dune buggy on the desserts around pyramids (so cool!), dinner on a Nile cruise, the Egyptian museum (loved! especially the mummy rooms), overnight at Sheraton in Cairo (definitely recommend), etc.... we won't soon forget our experience thank you Memphis!

“Memphis Tours Egypt - Thanks for the Memories”
, 6/13/10
My husband, Joel, and I were in Alexandria on May 13-14, 2010, on the Navigator of the Seas. We booked a 2-day tour with Memphis Tours Egypt. We had an awesome time; seeing the Great Pyramids was a lifetime dream. The statue of Ramses II in Memphis as also a must see. We had a private tour with Ahmed Farahat. We felt very well taken care of as Ahmed and our driver went out of their way to ensure that we had a grand tour. We stayed at the Le Meridian Pyramids, which was a nice change after being on the ship almost two weeks. Ahmed took us to the Cleopatra Restaurant for dinner and we were able to see the sunset on the Pyramids--so very beautiful. Thank you Ahmed and Memphis Tours Egypt. Debby

Just a quick note to say thank you for helping make our recent holiday in Egypt go so well with the tours you organised.

Your company's organisation and follow up were outstanding and the guide we had for 2 days, Hanna, was superb.

She was absolutely perfect over both trips, lots of knowledge, fun to be with and we left feeling we had made a friend.

I would recommend her and your company to anyone I know who will be visiting Egypt in the future.

Thank you once again

Best wishes

“Two days was not enough time in Egypt...”
, 1/16/10
My husband and I just returned home from a Mediterranean cruise during which we were privileged to visit great destinations like Barcelona, Rome, Naples, Athens, Crete, etc... By far our favorite destination was Egypt. We booked an overnight private tour with Memphis Tours and our experience from the initial planning phase and throughout the actual tour was exceptional. I highly recommend taking a private tour for Cairo. The cost was the same as the cruise ship option, we had an upgraded hotel(The Mena House) and the experience was so much better since we did not have 20+ other people to wait around for on a cruise ship tour. We felt completely safe and had no worries from the time we left the ship to the time our driver returned us the next day. Our guide, Mohamed(spelling?), literally opened up a whole new world to us and inspired us to learn more about Egypt's history and culture. The weather was very foggy when we arrived December 26th and our guide and driver were able to adjust our itinerary so we were able to fit everything in that we wanted to see and do. Our planning representative was wonderful in responding to our pre-trip requests and was willing to customize our experience any way we wanted. We had such a great time we are going back to Egypt in the near future for a longer vacation and plan to use Memphis Tours again for our next adventure on the Nile!

Memphis Tours and Guide Ahmed Abdul Hameed were fabulous
, 12/24/09
I just returned from a Mediterranean cruise that stopped in Alexandria for 2 days. I arranged a private tour to Cairo through Memphis Tours. They took care of every last detail. We were met at the port at 7:00 am by a private driver and our tour guide, Mr. Ahmed Abdul Hameed. Day 1, we visited the pyramids at Giza, the step pyramid built by Imhotep, the statue of King Ramses II and had a wonderful traditional Egyptian lunch. Ahmed escorted us to our hotel (the Movenpick) where our accommodations had been pre-arranged by Memphis. Our driver then took us to the evening sound and light show at the pyramids. He returned us to the hotel afterward. Food at the hotel, incidentally, was outstanding.
Day II, we visited the Citadel of Saladin and Mosque of Muhammad Ali and the truly unbelievable Egyptian Museum of Antiquities. Lunch was at the Hard Rock Cafe in Cairo (they offered an Egyptian buffet that was terrific so don't be turned off by the name if you are looking for regional cuisine).
We were pleased with absolutely everything on the tour but I must say that the absolute best part was our guide, Ahmed. I strongly encourage you to ask for him personally. We were truly amazed by the sheer volume of his knowledge of Egyptian history and culture. He also shared with us some very moving context on Islam during our visit to the Mosque of Muhammad Ali. Ahmed was extremely attuned to our needs and recommended a few excellent shops where we were able to browse without pressure. We felt very at home from the moment we met him. I cannot recommend him or Memphis Tours highly enough.

Cairo Tours with Memphis

If you are considering a visit to Cairo, I recommend you use the services of Memphis Tours as we did when our ship docked at Alexandria. From pick up at the port to drop off the next day, everything was first rate. We visited the sites at Giza, Memphis and Sakkara the first day and the Citadel and the Alabaster Mosque and the Egyptian Museum the second day. The hotel was 5 star and the guides were friendly and knowledgable and security was provided. I cannot imagine touring Cairo without the services of a reputable tour company and Memphis Tours more than met our expectations. For info, contact (--)

overnight tour from cruise
, 11/7/09
We used Memphis Tours based on a recommendation from another traveler. We took a 12 day cruise around the Med with a stop in Alexandria Port and Port Said. We arranged for memphis tours to pick us up at the first port then drop us off at the second port, with an overnight in Cairo. Everything was extremely smooth and as stated. We stayed at a great hotel right by the pyramids. The tour guide was very knowledgable and the driver accomodating. I would definately use them again if we go back and highly recommend them to anyone else. Security was never a problem, very safe.
