Memphis Tours representative will pick you up from Ein El Sokhna Port by the cruise exit door, holding a sign with your name. After that you will be transferred by an air-conditioned vehicle to Cairo (about 1.5 hour drive), by an air-conditioned vehicle. Get excited by a panoramic view of the Pyramids of Cheops, Chephren and Mykerinus. Then proceed to visit the Great Sphinx, the head of a pharaoh with a lion's body, which dates back to the time of Chephren; the tour also includes a visit to the Valley Temple, which belongs to the Pyramids of Chefren.Lunch will be served at a local restaurant. Continue to the Egyptian Museum which features artifacts from the Pharaonic period. The museum displays a rare collection of 5000 years of art which is considered the largest most precious collection of Egyptian art in the world. Over 250,000 genuine artifacts are presented, including an exhibit dedicated to Tutankhamen collection of treasure, gold and jewelry which was enclosed in his tomb for over 3,500 years before it was discovered in the 1920s when his tomb was excavated. And if there is enough time continue the tour to Khan Elkhalili old market. Transfer back to El Sokhna Port to join your cruise ship.
N.B: When you arrive, a free shuttle bus will transfer you from the cruise ship to the main gate of the port, approximately 800 meters. Your Memphis Tours representative will be waiting to meet you there.
We were on the Queen Mary 2 so had arranged to be picked up at Sokhna Port Main Gate. The boys were there waiting and it was only into the trip that it was discovered they had been waiting for nearly two hours because they wanted to make sure they were on site nice and early! A professional attitude that continued throughout the day. Mohamed S certainly knew his stuff but he wasn't just a facts man; he was more than happy to take off beam questions (why did the Pharaohs make their sandals bigger than their feet?) and talk about everything and anything that came to mind.
Due to the restrictions of the ship the tour was a quick one but talking to fellow passengers on return we had done more and learnt more than they had on the "official" organised one so thank you Memphis....and thank you the 2 Mohameds
We were on cruise stopping at Sokhna. Ship excursions would not take us to see Red and Bent pyramid so we used memphis tours who tailored a private tour just for us. Picked up at Port on time and enjoyed fast journey into Cairo. Picked up our guide who was helpful and knowledgeable. enjoyed pyramids and having one to one attention from guide. Tour went as planned, had a nice lunch in a local restaurant. Not sure about the carpet factory though - not our thing. Quick drive back to ship all for less than the cost of the ship excusions to Cairo. Highly recommended
